The department Dynamics of Maritime Systems at TU Berlin possesses longtime experience in the experimental investigation of fully submerged and surface piercing propulsors. The cavitation tunnel K27 is the experimental facility mainly used for this purpose. It was build in 1967 by the renowned company Kempf und Remmers.

Special features of the K27 are the availability of free surface flow as well as the big stilling basin behind the test section. This allows for a homogeneous propeller inflow during free surface tests.
